CILS - The Certification of Italian as a Foreign Language (CILS) is the official title that represents the degree of linguistic competency of Italian as a foreign language. The CILS is awarded by the University of Siena for Foreigners and is recognized by the Italian State through the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Most of Italian universities use the CILS (and the CELI) as an entrance requirement.
CELI - The CELI exams are the world's leading certificates for Italian language learners. They are issued by the Perugia University for foreigners and recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The CELI exams are also recognized by companies, universities and government organizations throughout the world. Having a CELI will help you gain entrance to a university or college, improve your professional prospects and quantify your progress in Italian.

Description: CILS Certificates issued by the International University of Siena (Universita per Stranieri di Siena). These certificates are recognized in Italy at the state level, through an agreement with the University of the Italian Foreign Ministry. Certification is carried out by the University for foreigners, the Sienna on the basis of parameters established by the Council of Europe. These certificates are recognized in Italy and the EU. They provide an opportunity for international students who have successfully passed the exam at least Level II and want to do in Italian universities, not to pass the entrance exam of Italian language again. The certificate is also a plus when applying for jobs in the Italian firms or foreign firms, which require knowledge of the Italian language.
CILS six Levels: A1, A2, UNO-B1, DUE-B2, TRE-C1, QUATTRO-C2. The first two elementary level - A1 and A2 - relevant to foreigners living in Italy as a confirmation of involvement in the process of learning the Italian language.
Examinations for the Certificate of Italian as a foreign language are held twice a year - in early June and in early December in the same time worldwide.
